Expecting parents go through sleepless nights and many debates so that they can bestow the perfect name on their baby. The reasons for coming up with a particular name can be sentimental, religious, meaningful or even just a spur of the moment idea.

But the wonderful field of mathematics has suddenly moved to the forefront of the fields used for coming up with baby names. People (conveniently named numerologists) who have dedicated their lives to studying numbers hold the belief that the numerical value of an individual’s name ends up shaping their identity, emotions and destiny.

Health and Numerology

There is an emerging branch within numerology which suggests that insight can be gained by knowing the numerical value of an individual’s name. This insight can then be used to be more careful as well to undertake preventive measures. Thus, people can end up leading a healthy life by anticipating health problems and being proactive in their treatment.

Calculating a name’s numerical value

Numerologists have ended up devising a very simple way to calculate the numerical value of a name. Since every individual’s name is eventually written in English, they have attached a specific numerical value to each and every alphabet in the English language. They are as follows:

1 – A, J, S

2 – B, K, T

3 – C, L, U

4 – D, M, V

5 – E, N, W

6 – F, O, X

7 – G, P, Y

8 – H, Q, Z

9 – I, R

There are a few rules to keep in mind now.

  1. A name’s numerical value can be calculated by adding the numbers assigned to each alphabet in the name.
  2. If the sum of the numbers consists of 2 digits, then those 2 digits have to be added to derive a single digit. For example, if the sum of name’s numerical value is 25, then 2 & 5 have to added so as to arrive at the name’s numerical value of 7.
  3. But there are 2 exceptions to the addition of 2 digits values. If the sum of a name’s numerical value is 11 or 22, then they should not be added. 11 and 22 are considered as master numbers with a special meaning.

So let’s try to calculate a name’s numerical value. For example, let’s consider ‘Swathi’.

S + W + A + T + H +I = 1 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 8 + 9 = 26.

Since 26 consists of 2 digits, we add them up.

2 + 6 = 8.

Hence, the numerical value of anyone named ‘Swathi’ is 8.
